Hello and Welcome World!
...and when could an individual at his desk ever say that, before the age of
the World Wide Web? ;^)
Now is finally the time to harness this medium to speak across borders, and
forge consensus as citizens of that world.
A new day dawns in America. Barack Obama has been elected president, after
8 years of incompetence and corruption from the George W. Bush regime. We
know we need to change.
As world leaders scramble for some way to get ahead of a tsunami of economic
crisis & carnage, they've begun talking now in broad strokes of major reform of
the global economic structure. Let us press them on it, as well as other critical
items.
For we are the ones who take the hit, when they screw up. Enough! We can
speak up as regular people on the planet now, and speak up we shall.

The site's cornerstones are "Balkers". If you feel strongly about any issue of
international impact - political, economic, humanitarian, ecological, etc. - and
can write it in a concise way, I will set up a Balker's page on the site for you.
Readers will then be able to reply to your Balk, and as we grow we can build
up a new global conversation for a new global era. Ultimately I think we'll prove
something I've maintained for years - Cultures of the world are more different
than alike, but people of the world are more alike than different.
Click "Add your Balk" from any page in the Balkers area, to submit your issue.
I recommend you pattern it to the length of a newspaper editorial column, as
that will help hold readers on your page. They will be able to comment via reply
box at your page's bottom.
Anyone is welcome to Balk, or reply to a Balk posted. Remarks are subject
to minimal moderation - filtered only for threats, ethnic or other hate speech,
commercial content, and blatant disruption to other users. The site is also
not intended as a forum on religions as a primary topic.
