Yes in many ways, but also no. When you have a president (the one we just sent home) simply cancel the 4th Amendment and start running phone or email taps on Americans en masse without court OK (which can only be individual case-by-case on probable cause, one reason he ignored it), and
a Congress whom rubberstamps it – you’re 1 step in towards a police state already. Russ Feingold got it right on the Hill, pretty much nobody else.
(nor did I find Hillary or Obama vocal over it)

And again the American major media, was largely indifferent about it. Which is another pre-requisite to paving the road to Gestapo. Nobody speaking up…
