Yet as a contemporary to his life and career, I've still been shocked at the worldwide outpouring since his death. Of all living icons of Western pop-culture, perhaps only Paul McCartney would equal this much reaction to passing on. (Long live the Walrus...) Wall-to-wall coverage at major U.S. television networks, begins right now (1 PM EST / -4 GMT)
